Hedgerow and tree health on farm
We will kick off our first event of the autumn at Standish village hall, where Simeon Day, the FWAG SW hedgerow and agroforestry lead will discuss how to manage woody habitats across the farm. We will then travel just down the road, where John and Jenny Percival have kindly offered to host us for a walk at Horsemarling farm, where we will have the chance to discuss our learnings, surrounded by some of their amazing in field veteran trees.
Food and drink will be provided from a local supplier. Please bring appropriate footwear and waterproof clothing for our farm walk.

Floodplain meadows and regenerative grasslands
As we think about moving to regenerative, natural systems, it is important to know how grasslands can be managed for the benefit of your farm business, as well as for nature.
Kindly hosted by SVG member Debbie Wilkins, at her farm just outside Cheltenham, we will be joined for this event by two experts on grassland management, and floodplain meadows. Liz Genever is an independent consultant advising sheep and beef farmers, as well as arable farmers looking to integrate livestock into their system. Emma Rothero also joins us from the Floodplain meadows partnership, where her role as Partnership Manager sees her regularly engage with farmers and land owners to help restore diverse meadows across the landscape.
Food and drink will be provided from a local supplier.

Flooding: resilience and recovery
This event will be an open space for members of the group to ask Questions about actions they can take to help their ground, and businesses, recover from the significant flooding we have had this winter.
There will also be the option of visiting Persh farm, managed by Greg Chamberlayne to see some of the impact flooding has had, and a chance for some in field discussion!
A locally sourced lunch as well as tea and coffee will be provided.
Please include any dietary requirements when booking
Ditches and watercourses
Join us to discuss how to manage your ditches and watercourses on your farm. We will be joined by Antony 'Aj' Bellamy, our FWAG SW regional wetlands advisor to discuss management considerations, and the potential for habitat creation. AJ has experience designing, advising and practically delivering wetlands including the restoration of existing farm ponds and replacing ghost ponds lost to the landscape.
This talk will be followed by a farm walk at the beautiful Hill farm, Longney, bordering the Severn, to see how these management strategies work in practice.
